From Bonus Bubble to voidfill, not all of our protective packaging is obvious

We’re constantly thinking of new ideas for protective packaging here at Simpson Packaging, which enables us to cater to the most demanding and specialised needs.

How hard could it possibly be to ensure that items you are readying for dispatch will actually be safe during storage and transportation? You might presume it to be a simple case of investing in some bubble wrap, using a copious amount of it, and then declaring it a job well done.

Sure enough, we do indeed proudly stock bubble wrap here at Simpson Packaging, in many different varieties, including the likes of flame retardant bubble wrap, UV resistant bubble wrap and even pink anti-static bubble wrap, the latter ideal for the protection of electronic devices.

However, there are many other forms of protective packaging in our range that may well lead you to reflect on whether you really are shielding your posted items from harm as well as you could.

You may not have been aware of Bonus Bubble, for instance, which comes in the form of a tight-wound double-length 200-metre roll. It’s certainly an interesting option if you want to save both space and money in your warehouse, given that it only takes up one and a half times more space than a standard 100-metre roll, and only one cardboard core and outer bag are required.

On the subject of all things ‘bubble’, you can also turn to us for Softline Bubble Blanket, for which we are the UK’s leading distributor here at Simpson Packaging. It’s perfect for protecting any type of furniture during transit and storage, with its unique and absorbent Softline tissue that is laminated to the inside of the bubble blanket to prevent resin marks being left on your furniture.

Then, there are the preformed bubble bags/pouches that represent a lightweight solution for protecting items against knocks and bumps. These bags can be sealed securely thanks to their self-adhesive strip, while products can also be slid in and out of them easily due to the smooth inner.

But we have plenty more unusual and sometimes overlooked protective packaging options where those came from. You may not know about our self-adhesive polyethylene foam blocks, for example, which are manufactured from closed cell foam and are coated on one surface with permanent adhesive. This enables them to be firmly secured on the inside of cartons to better protect the contents against movement and damage.

Or, for another way of filling those awkward gaps in your cartons, why not invest in Flo-Pak Green loosefill/voidfill chips that are made from 100% recycled EPS material? The way in which these cushioning chips interlock means that you really can be confident of filling all of the voids in your boxes. It’s also not a bad thing that they’re odour free and completely biodegradable.
